"We "dodged a bullet" 6 years ago when my daughter (at 1 1/2 years old) was diagnosed with cancer.she has been cancer free after a major surgery and difficult follow-up tests, etc.
I thank you for giving pleasure to families who are living the worst nightmare. My nightmare had a happy ending and my small, humble way of showing thanks is by giving back to these types of charities.
Bikram yoga helped me overcome severe insomnia which I suffered from for 3 years after Caitlin's diagnosis. So yeah for Bikram and my sleep filled nights the past three years which has allowed me to be a mom living and awake in the present which is what my children need.
Thank You Kathryn and if there's anything you need from the Michigan area please don't hesitate to call."
P.S. The light and love of your mom lives within you and everyone she touched.
Namaste!
"As many of you all know, my son Drew was diagnosed almost 2 years ago with Wilm's tumor, a childrens kidney cancer. He is 11 now and doing fine but I just have to share with you our experience with a camp that is for kids with cancer.
The first year he went to Camp Quality, he had barely gotten out of the hospital in time to go because of the chemo treatments he was receiving. But the doctors allowed him to go and we were secure with it because the camp is staffed with doctors and nurses who can monitor each child and the various stages they may be in and there is a one camp counselor for each child. The kids get to be kids again for this week and not the kid with cancer. These camps offer so much to these medically fragile kids while healing the spirit. When Drew was so sickly, it was comforting to see the many kids who were in remission or cured and that was the most hopeful experience we had. Now that Drew is healthy again we get to show other parents and kids that they too will be there soon.
At these camps everything is provided through donations and some of the donors and what they donate are pretty cool. Like the 2-seater airplane rides and the hot air balloon rides or throwing a football with U of L quarterback Brian Brohme.Of course there is zip-lining and swimming, archery, crafts, and a dance, and it goes on and on the whole week.
I am so pleased with this Karma is Action idea to help fund these camps and for Hot Spot Yoga's enthusiasm to help too. If you want to help make a difference in a kids life who needs a break from the worries of cancer, this is it!"
